A person must rest in order to regain used spell or feat slots, as well as used "per day" abilities from magic items. You may rest once every 30 RL minutes. If your rest was interrupted, you may try resting again in 10 RL minutes. In order to rest, you must either:
- Have a food item (the item name will be "Food <type of food>"
- Be in the common sleeping room of an Inn (said room will have a sign), or
- Be in the infirmary of a healer/temple.
In addition to regaining the use of "per day" abilities, resting is also a time for healing. A person will normally heal 1 HP per level. A number of factors can increase or decrease this amount. The exact formula is:
Level * (1.0 + multiplier bonus) + circumstance bonus - armor penalty
Circumstance Bonus
- Resting near a campfire (must be within 10m) gives a +2 HP circumstance bonus to the total HP healed.
- Resting in an Inn (in the common sleeping room) gives a +5 HP circumstance bonus to the total HP healed.
- Resting in an Infirmary gives a +10 HP circumstance bonus to the total HP healed.
Multiplier Bonus
- Basic dress wounds gives a +1.0 bonus multiplier to the HP per level healed.
- Moderate dress wounds gives a +1.5 bonus multiplier to the HP per level healed.
- Good dress wounds gives a +2.0 bonus multiplier to the HP per level healed.
- Excellent dress wounds gives a +2.5 bonus multiplier to the HP per level healed.
Armor Penalty
- Wearing armor while resting gives a penalty to the total HP healed based on the AC of the armor.
Please see the Healing Skill rules for more information on how to dress wounds.
